Current Projects

It’s looking like 2022 is shaping up to be a busy year! While both Ella and Cash have projects on the go individually , they have joined forces for some very special projects together as The Cleanup Kids this year.

2021 proved to be an extremely busy and successful year! Together the kids removed more than 6000 lbs of trash from our waterways. That is 6000 lbs of trash that can no longer pollute our rivers, lakes and streams! 6000 lbs of trash that can no longer endanger animals, and 6000 lbs of trash that will never make it to the ocean!

The Pollinator Projects

We know the importance of pollinators. We also know that they are up against unimaginable threats. From habitat loss, to climate change, to battling the toxic pesticides that are used to spray where they live, the odds are not in their favour. 1 in 4 native species of bee is threatened with extinction. Butterfly species globally are in decline, some even reaching the stars of CRITICALLY ENDANGERED! That is why we are committed to doing everything we can to protect these incredible little creatures. This year we will be raising and releasing butterflies, as well as sponsoring pollinator gardens. Our goal is to have at least 1 sponsored pollinator garden in EVERY SINGLE US state by the end of 2022. We will also be doing community planting and distribution of milkweed, and education sessions on natural lawn care and gardening to support our local pollinators! We can’t wait to get going on these projects. If you would like more information about this specific project, or would like to be involved, or support it, please send us an email to hello@thecleanupkids.org

The Aluminium Project

We are all about ALUMINIUM, and in a BIG way! One of our biggest, and most BOLD projects to date is about aluminium. We are convinced that answer to the main way forward out of the plastic crisis is sitting right in front of us in the form of a bright and beautiful aluminum can. Now hear us out, we don’t think that switching everything from plastic to aluminum will STOP pollution. Believe us, we get our hands dirty enough to know that the pollution is a bigger problem than what it is made of. We don’t know how to convince people to care enough to not litter, BUT we DO KNOW that if we can stop the problem ‘upstream” from a manufacturing perspective, that we may just have a shot at creating our items out of a material that can be endlessly recycled. If we could replace nearly every plastic product possible with aluminum, we would be manufacturing our containers in a closed loop system that has a material that is endlessly reusable. There is no reason we CAN’T, it is just a matter of convincing the decision makers that we MUST.

And that is EXACTLY what we plan on doing. This project will see us speaking to, and petitioning all levels of government, as well as the companies that manufacture goods in plastic. We will be putting the spotlight on them, and showing that making change for the planet needs to start at the top up. The big companies need to stop with the GREEN WASHING, and become the example of how things MUST be done so we kids have a planet to live on in our future. It isn’t going to be easy, and it isn’t going to be quick, but we are locked in and focused on this one, and we WILL NOT STOP until change has happened. We are going to need all hands on deck for this one, so if you want to join us, please reach out to us at hello@thecleanupkids.org
