Canada has announced that it will ban several single use plastic items by 2021. This is a huge win for our planet! Single use plastic has become THE trash that is left everywhere. From water bottles to plastic utensils, to bags. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t see several littered on the ground.

Although this is an incredible step for the planet, we feel it is just the beginning. We believe that people need to understand WHY they are dangerous for our planet. For most people, using a single use plastic item is about convenience. We need to educate people so that for them the inconvenience of our planet being destroyed, outweighs the convenience of a single use plastic item. There are so many ways to reuse what you have, or you can purchase incredible reusable items, that when you are eventually done with them they can be recycled! (Think, Klean Kanteen, they are stainless steel and can be recycled at the end of their life).

The ban is a start, and we are keeping our fingers crossed that more countries will follow Canada’s lead, and that Canada will continue to add more and more items to their list of banned items!
